Taco Bell in Hailey?

Owner Dan Kunkel moved his company Valley Gas Corp. to Hailey from Twin Falls, and is running the gas station and convenience store. He said he chose Hailey because it’s a nice location with limited competition.

"We’re just making it nice," said Kunkel of the renovated operation.

Although no formal application has been made to the city, Kunkel said the plan is to tear down the existing structure, and build a new convenience store, with a fast food outlet included, by next spring.

According to Kunkel, Taco Bell Corp. has shown interest in coming to Hailey, a logical choice since Texaco and Taco Bell are of the same vendor.

"I haven’t talked to anyone who said ‘I don’t want a Taco Bell,’" he said.
