Stand by and prepare to embark on a journey fraught with the sedulous sounds of 13 of the biggest name bands from the Northwest.

This year’s 21st annual Northern Rockies Folk Festival rolls into Hop Porter Park in Hailey Aug. 7 and 8. The talent-filled 48-hour explosion of bluegrass, country, rockabilly and jazz originals and adaptations are sure to plaster your shirt to your chest and add that wind-blown look to your hair, whether you’re bald or not.

So gather up the kids, stake out your patch on the grass and steady yourself for a musical experience that’s certain to breach the limits of your auditory memories.

Admission to the Folk Festival can be purchased in the form of Booster Buttons at $12 a piece. Each button entitles the wearer admission both days. Children under 12 and seniors over 60 will be admitted free.

Booster Buttons can be purchased in advance in Hailey at C-M Copy and Print and Read All About It. In Ketchum, the buttons will be on sale at Chapter One Bookstore and First American Title Company.

As is customary each year, proceeds from vendors at the Folk Festival and entrance fees paid by the public will be used to defray the costs of occupying Hop Porter Park, paying for headliner acts, and rental costs for stages and sound equipment.

Every type of food from barbecue chicken sandwiches to hot dogs and hamburgers will be for sale. No two culinary vendors will be the same.
