The Blaine County Recreation District board and its golf course committee met last Tuesday to review preliminary plans for the proposed Quigley Canyon golf course development.

Plans include an 18-hole championship course, a 9-hole executive course that may be constructed in a second phase, a club house, driving range, and rural trail. Fox Acres Road is the major access to the course.

The price tag for the complete course is close to $5 million.

The clubhouse is less than half a mile from Wood River High School, although it was originally planned for construction about two miles into the canyon.

"This answers 95 percent of the objections," said committee member Keith Perry of the plan.

The new location of the clubhouse decreases traffic and infrastructure costs.

"The number will be down to a range that’s acceptable to the public," said Perry.

The committee expects results of a feasibility study by the end of the week, and concrete conclusions from that study to be completed in two or three weeks to determine the demand for a course.

The committee discussed a possible "stadium pricing system" that would designate different prices for different times and days of the week.

"Hopefully, we can encourage those who want to play, to play and feel it’s worth it," said Perry.
