No, it’s not true

Sun Valley Company denies rumors of sale

Steve Winn? Michael Eisner? Three-hundred million dollars?

With the arrival of the 16th annual Allen & Co. retreat, the rumors are flying at dinner parties, in grocery stores and in bars.

Are Eisner and Winn jointly purchasing Sun Valley Company, owner of Sun Valley resort, as a private investment?

Will Mickey Mouse be greeting skiers as they get on the lifts to head for the summit on Bald Mountain?

Even the Financial News Network predicted an imminent announcement during its broadcast Tuesday.

As of press time, both the Sun Valley Company and Walt Disney Company are still calling the rumors, well, just rumors.

"We get these rumors five times a year," said Sun Valley Company spokesman Jack Sibbach. "It’s only a rumor."

Sun Valley Company general manager Wally Huffman "vehemently" denied the rumors as well.

And in Burbank, Calif., one person who answered the phone at the Walt Disney Company said she had been inundated with calls asking about the rumors.

Still, the official word from Disney was dismissive.

"We never comment on rumor and speculation," said Disney spokesperson Ken Green.
