A once controversial application for the Warm Springs Pinnacle Inn Hotel disappeared at the Planning and Zoning Commission’s Monday night meeting.

The hotel occupies two lots at the corner of Picabo Street and Skiway Drive near the Baldy Base Camp. Only the front lot is in the pedestrian overlay zone, while the back lot lies in a tourist zone.

At a previous P&Z hearing in February, Eagle Crest Inc., which recently purchased the property, applied to include the back lot in the pedestrian overlay.

On Monday night, the Pinnacle Inn application returned without the controversial request.

The owners of the property want to convert the hotel rooms into time-share condominiums. The P&Z approved a 344 square foot addition to the Pinnacle Inn.

According to P&Z Administrator Lisa Majdiak, the Pinnacle Inn, when converted to time-shares, will have 16 rooms and occupy 12,626 feet.

In other business, the city has decided to continue its Ketchum Cruiser program.

Today marks the first day of the second season of the courtesy bike program.

The cruisers, green bikes with fluorescent red lettering, will be at existing bike racks throughout Ketchum’s downtown core.

The bikes, for use around town by anybody and everybody, will not be locked up or assigned to specific locations. The only rule is that they be returned to a bike rack in town.

"People can pick up a bike, go run some errands, and then leave it for someone else when they’re done," said City Planner Tory Canfield.

Canfield got the program running in August of last summer and it is now back for round two.

The Ketchum Police Department has given the city bikes that haven’t been claimed. People have generously donated bikes as well.

The city of Ketchum has 12 cruisers, but is still looking for more. If you’d like to donate one, contact Tory Canfield at 726-7801.
